At 3 C's Therapy Center clients trust us to walk beside them on their journey. We use our 3 C's Therapy Center Awareness Approach© to place clients in social groups based on their self, social, and life awareness; and not just their age and/or diagnoses. This creates a space for clients with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and more from ages 8 into adulthood to feel seen and heard in a setting where they fit in and belong.
All new clients start off by contacting us through our website. We then send a detailed initial questionnaire that is followed by a 20 minute call with the clinic director. If the program is a good fit for the clients' needs they meet with the therapists for a Social Abilities Assessment© in the office. . This assessment includes an online portion to be completed by the client or their parents. The assessment is also followed by a call to review all of the results and to go over their report. They will learn about the type of group that is the best fit for them based on their levels of awareness in the areas of Cognition (self awareness), Communication (social awareness), or Connection (life awareness).
-Clients are not grouped based on age or diagnosis. They are grouped based on awareness levels from their assessment.
-Clients in groups may have: ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (primarily Level 1), Anxiety, Social Pragmatic Disorder, and much more!
-We have groups for clients starting at age 8 (elementary school) through 18 (high school). We also have college level groups.
-Our new Adult Connection Groups are for individuals with autism who are doing life on their own, may have families, and hold jobs BUT feel that they struggle to find a community to connect with.
-All Clients MUST have average to above average speech and language skills to participate in our program.
-Our Cognition Groups work on self awareness & emotional regulation and our Communication groups improve social awareness & relationship skills. These types of groups meet for 16 weeks in the fall from August to December and/or 16 weeks in the spring from January to May.
-Groups meet for 1-2 hours a week in person at our office in Sanford, Florida.
-Each group has 4-6 students in it.
-Groups are off on the same weeks as the school system (Thanksgiving week, Winter Break, Spring Break).
-We do not have virtual sessions for our Cognition or Communication Groups.
-Our Connection Groups are an intentional space for adults with autism to build community and connection with others.
-These groups work on helping clients navigate challenges related to workplace dynamics, dating, marriage, friendships, and/or parenting.
-Options for groups include everything from weekly sessions to monthly workshops and are available throughout the whole year.
-These groups are not meant to replace other therapies that a client is currently in. They serve as an affordable way to practice skills with other neurodivergent individuals in a group setting.
-Virtual and in-person adult groups are also available.
-Groups review their success plan and goals for the day and sessions are unique to the individuals in the group and the type of awareness building they need.
Moods/Feelings Check in: We check in on moods using CBT approaches that help clients recognize, understand, label, express, and regulate their emotions. We encourage advocating about thoughts, feelings, actions, and needs.
Conversation: We practice conversation skills every session with a focus on increasing social awareness related to the importance of interactions to grow healthy bonds with others.
Game or Activity: There are 3 types of games played at 3 C's and all games are incorporated into the group goal each week. We play Communication, Collaborative, and Competitive Games that relate to the lessons needed in groups.
Reflection: We review what was learned in the session and reflect on how the skills can be used outside of groups.
We offer several ways for families to get involved in our program depending on their child's age and type of group:
Parent Recaps: The therapists work closely with all of the families of clients in their Cognition & Communication Groups. They meet with the parents in person a few times each semester to discuss ways to generalize the skills learned in group to their home settings. They end the semester with detailed reports and recommendations, as well as an award celebration for each group.
H.O.P.E. Link: This link is a direct connect to the therapists of the client's group and is a way for parents or individuals to relay both challenges and celebrations that have occurred that week. The therapy team responds to all H.O.P.E. links within 24 hours.
3 C's Community Network: Clients are able to participate in our awesome online community. This is a place to find group summaries/photos/videos, Sparks of HOPE, counseling information, and much more.
